Following on from the success of the award-winning McLaren 720S Coupé, we created a Spider variant – designed for a truly thrilling drive. The McLaren 720S Spider has a bespoke carbon fibre shell, designed to accommodate its roof mechanism: the Monocage II-S. The car’s retractable hard top is fully electric and near-silent, ready to invite the intoxicating elements of the outside world along for the ride.

WATER AND LIGHT
Like its sister, the 720S Spider was sculpted in the profile of nature’s most aerodynamic shape – the teardrop. This sleek design, coupled with 360° visibility (whether the roof is up or down) gives this 720S variant the sensation of space and light.
McLaren’s iconic dihedral doors and integrated active rear spoiler add our unique sense of racing theatre. Each piece is designed to take the driver’s breath away, even before the engine roars.
Ultimate Convertible
Like all McLaren cars, the new 720S Spider has a carbon fibre structure at its core, in this case designated Monocage II-S. The strength, rigidity and light weight of the McLaren Monocage is the base for the dynamic excellence for which McLarens are renowned. The Monocage II-S is a development of the Coupé ‘s Monocage II, without the central ‘spine’ running front to rear above the cabin. The rearmost section of the upper structure is also unique to the Spider, to accommodate the Retractable Hard Top; additionally, the header rail across the top of the windscreen has been revised, to integrate the central latching mechanism.
Open-top journeys in the 720S Spider are made even more memorable by the sheer power of the mid-mounted engine; a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine that delivers 720 PS (710 bhp) and 770 Nm (568 lbft) of torque. It achieves an acceleration of 0-100 kph (0-62 mph) in just 2.8 seconds, soundtracked by a thunderous exhaust note. A constant reminder of the power that lies at the driver’s fingertips.
